Chinese Steel Planks Gain Global Export Popularity
2026-07-03
Benefiting from global infrastructure recovery and green construction policies, Chinese steel planks have become popular construction exports for its durability and recyclability. In 2025, China’s steel plank export volume reached 148,000 tons, up 9.7% year on year, with an export value of 312 million yuan, ranking first in global supply.

Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa are core export markets, accounting for 42.3%, 28.1% and 17.5% respectively. RCEP zero-tariff policies greatly cut export costs to ASEAN nations. Booming coastal and urban construction projects in the Middle East and Africa fuel the surging demand for anti-corrosion steel planks. Compared with wooden and aluminum boards, steel planks have better load-bearing and anti-slip performance, reusable for over five years and compliant with global low-carbon standards.

International quality certification is essential for steel plank exports. Leading manufacturers have obtained EU and US safety certifications, upgraded anti-corrosion and structural technologies to adapt to harsh construction conditions. Exported steel planks are divided into three mainstream types: riveted type, hook type and perforated type, compatible with various overseas scaffolding systems, with customizable size and galvanized thickness to meet national construction standards. Industrial restructuring has eliminated unqualified producers, lifting the product qualification rate to 98%, greatly reducing foreign trade return disputes.

Industry insiders forecast that steel plank export growth will exceed 18% in 2026. Compared with local foreign products, Chinese steel planks balance cost performance and delivery efficiency, with complete customs documents to improve clearance efficiency. The industry still faces challenges such as rising cross-border logistics fees and fluctuating steel raw material prices. Driven by Belt and Road infrastructure expansion and global scaffolding renewal, domestic manufacturers will set up overseas warehouses, optimize materials and after-sales services to strengthen global competitiveness.
