How to pick long-service-life scaffolding steel planks?
2026-07-23
With the continuous expansion of global overseas infrastructure projects year by year, harsh construction environments including intense sunlight in Saudi Arabia Middle East, coastal salt spray erosion, rainy and humid climate in Western Europe make overseas construction contractors and engineering purchasers attach great importance to durability and anti-corrosion performance of reusable construction materials. As two types of most widely-used scaffolding steel planks on construction sites currently, hot-dip galvanized steel planks and painted steel planks have prominent gaps in anti-corrosion performance, overall service life, site turnover times and long-term usage costs. As a physical source factory specializing in manufacturing all kinds of export steel planks and engaging in overseas construction material export business for years, we mainly supply long-lasting anti-corrosion hot-dip galvanized steel planks. Our products are exported in bulk to Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and many Western European countries, serving as the preferred anti-slip steel planksfor Ringlock Scaffolding erection, exterior wall construction, factory building projects and port engineering overseas.

Anti-corrosion property is the core factor when purchasing scaffolding steel planks. The protective structure of painted steel planksis quite fragile; they are only coated with a layer of anti-rust paint on the surface of Q235 carbon steel boards with poor paint adhesion. Frequent trampling, material collision and Steel Pipe impact on construction sites will directly lead to paint cracking, peeling and shedding. Once the carbon steel substrate is exposed, it will rust rapidly under the erosion of salt, moisture, acid, alkali and sand. For coastal salt spray areas in the Middle East and offshore infrastructure projects, the anti-rust lifespan ofpainted steel planks is merely 1 to 2 years. Rust spreads rapidly and holes and welding positions on boards are easy to be corroded through. Workers have to polish and repaint repeatedly for continuous use, which largely increases labor and material costs on site, so painted versions are not suitable for long-term cyclic turnover. By contrast, hot-dip galvanized steel planks adopt national standard integrated hot-dip galvanizing technology. The zinc layer is metallurgically combined with steel substrate to form dense zinc-iron alloy protective coating with uniform and thick thickness. Even if there are scratches and dents on the surface of hooked steel planks, the zinc layer can keep anti-corrosion continuously based on the electrochemical sacrificial anode principle, fully blocking the invasion of moisture, salt spray, high temperature, acid and alkali. Whether applied to erect aerial working platforms with ringlock scaffolding matching steel planks, or used for offshore petroleum infrastructure, port terminals and bridge construction, hot-dip galvanized steel planks can maintain stable anti-corrosion effect for 10 to 20 years without any repainting maintenance after installation, cutting subsequent maintenance expenses greatly.

In terms of cyclic service life and overall cost performance, the distinction between the two kinds of steel planks is more obvious. Ordinary painted steel planks can only be recycled for 2 to 3 years. After being rusted and deformed, their load-bearing capacity declines and anti-slip holes get blocked, so they have to be scrapped entirely for failing construction safety standards. Our thickened integrally stamped hot-dip galvanized scaffolding steel planks are equipped with reinforcing ribs at the bottom, and the punched anti-slip structure balances load-bearing strength and construction anti-slip performance, compatible with all scaffolding systems. They can be reused cyclically for 6 to 8 years, three times longer than painted ones. The recycling rate of waste steel reaches up to 96% with high residual value, reducing the total investment of long-term bulk purchase of export steel planks by around 45%.

We are an experienced steel plank manufacturer producing goods in strict accordance with international safety standards EN12811 and OSHA. All our anti-slip steel planks, hooked steel planks, ringlock scaffolding matching steel planks have obtained CE export certificates. We support customized sizes and OEM bulk export, keep massive spot goods in stock for prompt delivery to major ports across the Middle East and Europe. Strict pre-shipment quality inspection controls the quality of every batch of exported construction materials, and we keep supplying safe, durable and cost-effective long-life anti-corrosion scaffolding steel planks for global overseas infrastructure projects.
