Which cable tray suits Middle East sandy outdoor environments?

2026-08-10
With continuous expansion of global infrastructure, petrochemical plants, photovoltaic power stations and urban municipal outdoor power projects, overseas engineering contractors, MEP general contractors and electrical engineers face growing confusion on outdoor cable tray selection: how to balance dustproof protection and cable heat dissipation efficiency in regions with heavy wind-blown sand and dust? Targeting high-frequency purchasing pain points of overseas buyers, a full range of export-grade solutions includinghot-dip galvanized cable tray, FRP fiberglass cable tray, ladder type cable tray and solid bottom enclosed cable tray have been launched for Gulf, Southeast Asian and African markets. This release fully compares the working condition adaptability between covered enclosed cable trays and open uncovered cable trays. Our product lineup will be exhibited at BIG5 Construct Saudi held at ROSHN Front Exhibition Center, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from August 30 to September 2, 2026. All global engineering purchasers, MEP system integrators and overseas distributors are warmly welcomed to visit our booth for business negotiations.

Outdoor working conditions in Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar feature extreme characteristics: intense year-round sunlight, persistent sandstorms and sharp day-night temperature differences. Cables laid outdoors are constantly exposed to heavy dust. Covered solid bottom cable trays stand as the top choice for sandy outdoor environments thanks to fully enclosed lap structures. Sealed covers block sand, gravel and direct UV radiation, preventing dust accumulation on cable insulation layers. Long-term dust coverage forms an insulation barrier that elevates cable temperature, accelerates insulation aging and even triggers short-circuit risks. Covered trays minimize dust deposition fundamentally and slash monthly maintenance costs for outdoor wiring lines, with extra advantages of basic electromagnetic shielding, rain resistance and anti-animal biting performance. They are ideal for outdoor PV wiring cable tray, open-air oil & chemical pipe galleries and municipal road lighting power distribution, which are essential products for harsh outdoor sites with heavy dust.

Nevertheless, enclosed covered cable trays have inherent heat dissipation defects: poor air circulation inside sealed cavities leads to trapped heat for high-current power cables during long-term operation, which forces derating of cable current carrying capacity and creates obvious heat loss. In contrast, open ladder cable trays and wire mesh open cable trays adopt unobstructed hollow structures to enable smooth air convection and maximize heat dissipation performance. Cables of the same specifications maintain rated current carrying capacity without derating wiring, bringing lower construction costs and lighter self-weight. Open cable trays allow clear cable visibility during installation and maintenance, suitable for low-dust scenarios such as indoor factories, well-ventilated semi-open power stations and data center main wiring lines. However, open trays lack protective covers and let sand dust directly contact cables, so they cannot meet long-term outdoor laying standards in the Middle East and only apply to clean, dust-free areas.

To resolve the trade-off between protection and heat dissipation, our factory launches a compromise solution: ventilated perforated cover cable tray. Louvered convection holes are reserved on covers to balance dust isolation and air circulation, perfect for compromise working conditions including Saudi desert photovoltaic projects and large park outdoor power distribution. Multiple anti-corrosion treatments are available: hot-dip galvanization, SUS304/SUS316 stainless steel and FRP fiberglass. All products pass CE, ISO and GCC Gulf certifications, with customizable sizes, plate thicknesses and anti-corrosion coatings via OEM/ODM services. Full sets of supporting accessories including cable tray mounting brackets, connecting fittings, elbows and reducers are supplied in one-stop packages.

The exhibition gathers local Saudi EPC general contractors, royal real estate developers, oil infrastructure groups and importers from all Gulf nations, serving as a core platform to explore the Middle East market of cable support & management systems. We look forward to face-to-face communications with global industry partners regarding customized export of outdoor cable trays, bulk supply and regional agency cooperation from August 30 to September 2 at Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Center.
